Now, coming back to the book, this book is a magic and anyone can experience this magic if they follow certain rules. This book is very well written and is actually a proof of hardship of Robin Sharma. All the events are so sequentially described in this book that nothing seems puzzled. He has written at the end, what exactly needs to be done during 5-6 AM, and before that, he has given so many reasons why one should wake up at 5 AM. Not only that, but he has also given so many ways that one can follow to build it as a habit. He not only tries to convince with his words, but also has used several diagrams to explain the methodologies. He has referred many scientific researches and studies to prove his point.

5:00 AM to 5:20 AM is where we have to move. This includes doing intense exercise, hydrating ourselves, or breathing deeply. Your body has been in a state of sleep and you need to allow your body and mind to fully wake up.

When we do exercise first thing in the morning, our cortisol levels decrease and our dopamine and serotonin levels increase, which elevates our mood and our metabolism. This pocket is from 5:20 AM to 5:40 AM. You should use this time to ruminate and reflect on your life. You can do it either by meditation or by writing in your journal, by planning your day, by praying or creating a time of personal contemplation. Anything that feels natural to you, but it should involve active reflection.

Now, this step helps us to be more aware of ourselves, and our mission, vision, and goals in life. It ensures that we are in alignment with our greater purpose.

This pocket should generally occur between 5:40 AM to 6:00 AM. In these 20 minutes, you have to review your goals, both for life as well as for the week as well as for the day.

When we talking about getting up at 5:00 AM, it’s not really possible unless we sleep on time. We need to sleep on time and have quality sleep. It is vitally important that you keep to a healthy pre-sleep ritual to ensure these two things. Generally, this ritual should occur between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM. You should make sure during this time that you have or you have already had your last meal of the day. Plus, you will want to turn off all your devices and keep them away from the bed.

Try to isolate yourself from overstimulation. From 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM you can have family time. You can have real conversations with your loved ones, or you can meditate if you want. You can spend some time reading or listening to audiobooks or podcasts. The idea is to just relax and calm your mind before sleeping.

  • #2: The 90/90/1 rule

This rule states that for the next 90 days, use the first 90 minutes of your work to identify one thing that could be the game changer in your line of work. By doing this, you’ve ensured that the first 90 minutes of your day is completely focused on the single most important activity of your career. This alone will give you great results. Definitely try this out.

  • #3: The 60/10 method

This method states that after every hour of work, take a 10-minute break. Go for a quick walk, drink some water, do some stretches, and then get back to work. By doing this, you ensure that you are not overstressed. You’re not sitting in one place for long and you refuel yourself for the day ahead.

This concept states that every morning you should write five goals that you want to complete on a particular day. Doing this should help every day become the best day it could be. By making these lists of five every day, you ensure that you are staying on track and moving towards your ideal life.

The idea is to not waste the time we spend commuting. We can accomplish so much more by utilizing this time productively, and that’s what Robin Sharma has called traffic university. If you are on public transport you can use this time to think of creative ideas, or if you are driving you can listen to a podcast or an audiobook so you can learn as you commute.

  • #8: The dream team technique

Now we cannot accomplish what we want to accomplish without the help of others. By delegating some of the tasks to our team members, we can ensure that everyone is doing the things that they are good at. So, having a dream team is definitely a critical part of any pursuit.

  • #9: The weekly design system

This tactic states that every weekend, preferably on Sunday, you should sit down and plan your entire week. How does your week look like? What are the things you want to accomplish this week? What do you want to do each day?

By having this weekly plan, you can be sure that you’re sticking to your goals. You can then develop this plan further by breaking those goals into five daily goals.

This idea states that those who are considered geniuses by society are those that study for a minimum of 60 minutes each day. For you, it could be a book about your field or the latest update in your field.
