Earlier today, Former President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee passed away after battling a long illness. His son confirmed the news. Mukherjee had undergone a brain surgery at Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi. His health was not improving along with infection in his lungs.
He was appointed as 13th President of India and served the country from 2012-2017 and Minister of Finance of India from 2009-2012. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi twitted, about his sad demise followed by several other dignitaries from the country.
Pranab Mukherjee was known for his patience, intelligence and above all the will to uphold country and its upliftment. As once he said, “India is a land of plenty inhibited by poverty; India has an enthralling, uplifting civilization that sparkles not only in our magnificent art but also in the enormous creativity and humanity of our daily life in city and village.” He was a scholar and had an immense interest in Art and culture. Fondly called by the name ‘Pranab Da’ he was adored and looked up to. Needless to say, it is a sad day for the entire nation, and his legacy will act as guiding force for ages to come.
